I have tried so many chocolate chip recipes over the years, looking for the one. Then one Sunday afternoon, my husband had a cookie craving and started searching for the best chocolate chip cookie the internet had to offer. He found these and we haven't looked back. They are so good. The salt adds such a great dimension to the already perfect cookie. Mmmm.
I wish I had a better picture to show you, but this was literally the last cookie. They go quick around here!
So here's a recipe for your Monday. Make these asap, and your week will start off right, I promise!
Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies
Recipe adapted from Sweet Savory Life
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups flour
3/4 tsp coarse sea salt (not table salt!)
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 cups chocolate chips (we like to use 1 cup chocolate and 1 cup white chocolate)
Preheat oven to 360 degrees.
Cream butter and sugars until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla and beat an additional 2 minutes. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt, and mix until smooth and creamy, about 3 or 4 more minutes. Last, add chocolate chips, and mix until incorporated.
Bake 12-14 minutes, and then eat as many as you can before your three-year-old gets to them (is that just me?).
The secret that makes these so good is all of the mixing. It seems like a lot but it is so worth it.
